China Demands More Wind Energy

As renewable energy sources are sought after, wind energy companies are experiencing demand growth.

Vestas Wind Systems, a wind turbine production company based in Denmark, has announced an order from China Datang Corporation Renewable Power Company.

The order is for 49.3MW worth of turbines, which will be placed in a wind farm in Wuchuan County in Inner Mongolia.

That’s a total of about 58 of Vestas’ V60-850kW turbines.

This specific model of turbines is particularly efficient for the location, as the Wuchuan County wind farm is high-altitude and mountainous.

V60-850 turbines contain internal heating systems that protect against breakdowns and malfunctions in cold temperatures, particularly in ice and snow.

The nacelles are also especially small, which makes these kinds of turbines easy to transport to difficult locations.

Datang and Vestas began working together back in 2005, and since then Vestas has provided over 800MW of wind power to Datang.

The Danish company has been providing turbines to other locations and companies in China since 1986 – just 7 years after the company began operating.

The delivery of these 58 turbines is scheduled for the third quarter of 2011.

That’s all for now,

Brianna
